UPDATE:
Man who shot lawmen found dead

UPDATE: 9:12AM
The Liberty County Sheriff's Office says the deputies shot were 32-year-old Jeremy Marcantel and 40-year-old R.E. Evans. Both were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where they are stable.

The deputies responded to a 'shots fired; call around 5:30 am this morning. When they arrived, a man fired at them with either a shotgun or a rifle. The deputies returned gunfire. It's not known if the shooter was hit in the gunfire.

DAYTON - Two Liberty County Sheriff's Deputies have been shot this morning.  The Liberty County Sheriff's Office is releasing no information at this time, however it is reported that at least one deputy has been taken by ground ambulance to Herman Hospital in Houston.

The deputies were shot about one mile outside of Dayton in the Woodland Hills neighborhood. Liberty County Sherriff's office says the shootings took place shortly after 5:30 this morning.

Highway Patrol and Baytown SWAT were dispatched to the scene. One deputy was transported to a hospital in Baytown and the other was taken to Memorial Hermann in Houston. No word on their conditions.

A medical helicopter was sent to the scene, but paramedics said the deputies' injuries were not life-threatening. They were both wearing bulletproof vests.

The gunman has not been caught and no motive for the shooting has been determined.

Woodrow Wilson Junior High School officials say school buses will not run in Woodland Hills where the shooting took place.

A telephone alert was sent to parents in Dayton ISD about the buses not running in Woodland Hills.

Liberty County is a county located within the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area. As of the 2000 United States Census, the population was 70,154. The 2007 Census estimate placed the county population at 75,434. Its county seat is Liberty, Texas.
